There are different jumping techniques when wakeboarding. In this guide, we want to take a closer look at two of them: The Bunny Hop and the Bunny Hop 180.
As a result of the material condition and the fact that wakeboarding is a mixture of different kinds of sport, it contains elements and figures, which are comparable to the those who can be found at skating or kitesurfing.
When wakeboarding, leaps are usually obtained when running over obstacles. Ramps or catapults can be used as jumping points. These have to be approached very targeted and at the optimal speed for the jump to be executed successfully. But at the moment, the freestyle type of jumping still dominates, which means that there are many different and spectacular jumps, which are modified again and again and still continue to develop. That is the reason why there is not a single name available for every jump.
When a wakeboarder wants to learn a new jumping technique, he begins with the first central base jump, the Bunny Hop. This figure is also known from the BMX scene, where it is is executed with a technique which is very alike to the one used when wakeboarding. The Bunny Hop is a jump with a low height and width, but not easy to drive. The jump direction corresponds to the driving direction, both during the jump and landing. The rear wave is not used for driving, because the Bunny Hop is initiated solely by weight shift. In a first step, the weight is placed on the front foot. With a strong pulse the back foot then pushes the wakeboard briefly under water. At the right moment, the wakeboarder now uses his physical strength to pull himself out of the water up and jump off with a lot of power.
An advanced version of the Bunny Hop is the Bunny Hop 180, in which the boarder performs a 180-degree rotation between the take-off and the landing phase. Due to this, the driving continues in a changed direction.

Leaps of Faith $12.78 Trumpeter Cuong Vu built a reputation out of his original compositions and their high levels of ambience and envelopment of the listener. With Leaps of Faith, he moves into the territory of jazz standards, applying sonic methods to constantly recognizable songs until they just break into unrecognizability. With a pair of electric basses, drums, and his own trumpet, Vu and his quartet start the album out by reworking songbook standards “Body and Soul,” “All the Things You Are,” and “My Funny Valentine” into experimental, looping soundscape versions of their former selves. A couple of originals provide slightly darker, more throbbing compositions and perhaps a nice look at Vu’s usual methods for a new listener. The album ends with one more Vu original sandwiched between interesting takes on George Harrison’s “Something” and Jackson Browne’s “My Opening Farewell” — slowed-down, almost entrancing versions of their original forms. Between stretched-out trumpet lines and the dual basses, Vu’s sound is enveloping, bathing the listener at all times.
