When You Need Support And Protection – Padded Sports Bras
Women athletes know that few things hurt worse than a hard shock to their breasts. That’s why many of them opt for a padded sports bra.
Although they can be difficult to find, padded sports bras are available through online vendors, in dress shops and in the lingerie sections of department stores. A padded bra that fits well and provides good protection may not strictly be a sports bra but it certainly could serve the purpose.
Some women prefer padded sports bras also for extra coverage. It relieves them of worrying about their modesty when exercising in a crowded fitness center with unfamiliar men and women. In this case, the psychological protection afforded by a padded sports bra is as important as the physical protection.
Beyond protection, the key factor in choosing a padded sports bra is how well the bra controls “bounce” or breast movement.
Small-breasted women or those whose fitness routine involves minimal impact can wear padded sports bras with medium support, as long as it controls bounce.
For more intense activity, such as volleyball, tennis or jogging, a high amount of control is needed in a padded sports bra. These types of activities call for a bra with molded cups and cushioned underwires. It also helps if the cups have stability panels and the fabric has extra stretch woven into it.
Rigorous activities such as running, soccer or basketball require the maximum amount of control in a padded sports bra. Large-breasted women also should look for the maximum amount of bounce control in their athletic bras, no matter what sport they play. Look for bras that say they’re designed with encapsulation to keep breasts separated and compression to minimize bounce. A maximum control athletic bra may feel somewhat confining when first put on but that sense of control will be greatly appreciated once the playing begins.
